Nirman is a registered body under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860. It is an organization for education, research, training, social service and nation building. It is a youth initiative started by eminent educationist & young motivator, Dr. Amit Kansal to educate, nurture and organize the young change makers to solve various societal challenges in 2008.
The IGNOU is a distance learning National University located at IGNOU Road, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, India. The university was established in 1985, when the Parliament of India passed the Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985 (IGNOU Act 1985).IGNOU is a Central University run by the Govt. of India.
IGNOU is the largest University in the world. It has over 4 million students and was founded to impart education by means of distance and open education. It provides higher education opportunities particularly to the disadvantaged segments of society, encourage, coordinate and set standards for distance and open education in India and strengthen the human resources of India through education. Apart from teaching and research, extension and training form the mainstay of its academic activities. It also acts as a national resource centre, and serves to promote and maintain standards of distance education in India. IGNOU hosts the Secretariats of the SAARC Consortium on Open and Distance Learning (SACODiL) and the Global Mega Universities Network (GMUNET) initially supported by UNESCO.
The Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, has entrusted the responsibility of developing Draft Policy on Open and Distance Learning and Online Courses to IGNOU. The University has made a significant mark in the areas of higher education and continual professional development. the University has been networking with public institutions and private enterprises for enhancing the educational opportunities being offered by it. A a world leader in distance education, it has been conferred with awards of excellence by the Commonwealth of Learning, Canada several times and UNESCO declared IGNOU as the largest institution of higher learning in the world in 2010.
Today it serves the educational aspirations not only the students of India but also in other countries through 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 Regional Centres, the University offers about 228 certificate, diploma, degree and doctoral programs. The degree awarded by IGNOU is recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC), University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council of Technical Education(AICTE), National Council for Teaching Education (NCTE) and All India Universities (AIU). IGNOU has International Jurisdiction. Due to its credibility, its all degrees are valid throughout India and accepted by all State Governments without any doubts.
Its a matter of proud for NIRMAN that seeing the social activities of NIRMAN, IGNOU has established its Special Study Centre - 2281D at NIRMAN CAMPUS OF EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND TRAINING in SUNAM, the birth place of great martyr S. UDHAM SINGH. We are committed to provide access to higher education to all segments of society, offer high quality and need based programs at different levels, to all those who require them. Free of cost education is being provided to all Jail-in-mates. The fees paid by SC/ST students is refundable as per the Govt./University norms. NIRMAN has taken as a mission to provide higher education at the door steps of educationally backward areas of the Punjab. It has initiated its campaign "EK KADAM SHIKSHA KI AUR" to materialized the dream SWACHH BHARAT-SHIKSHIT BHARAT and BETI BACHAO-BETI PADHAO of Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narinder Bhai Modi.
